We have made another change to the tour/tasting hours. A new Department of Revenue regulation allows us to conduct brewery tours on Sundays, but beer tasting is not permitted. In light of these facts, we've decided to cease the Sunday tour/tasting hours. Call us crazy, but we just didn't think we'd get a whole lot of takers for a brewery tour with no sampling of the goods produced at the brewery...
Wednesday and Friday tour/tastings will continue to run from 6-8pm.
New at Wednesday Tastings - Beginning on February 13th, it's The Mid Week Freak featuring Dee Jay Phiasco 2.0. Phiasco spins a diverse selection each week. The first hour is the "theme" for the week, and then it's wide open, including requests. Some of the past themes have been Elvis, Classic Soul and I Love the Eighties. May 12-18 is American Craft Beer Week. Here at ABC, we're always celebrating craft beer, but this week is made special because at craft breweries throughout the nation, focus will be on the positive impact we have on our communities. Some of this impact is seen in terms of jobs and in money spent locally on locally produced goods, but there's also the not insignificant amount we contribute to help a vast array of non-profit organizations. US craft breweries contributions to charitable causes totalled more than twenty million dollars in 2007. To name just a few that ABC has helped - City of Atlanta Firefighters, Fulton County Fraternal Order of Police, Paws Atlanta No Kill Animal Shelter, Cabbagetown Neighborhood Improvement Association, Underwood Hills Neighborhood Association, The High Museum of Art, The Georgia Museum of Art, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, The Atlanta Children's Shelter plus many more.
More on the tastings/tours -
It's been six months since we moved into our new digs and we are grateful to all of you who have done the necessary legwork to find the new location and keep the tastings and tours the great time they've always been. We are still trying to get directions changed on Mapquest and Google maps, but it's taking a heck of a lot longer than expected. Our apologies to anyone who's gotten lost...it seems as though there are nearly as many Defoor something or others as there are Peachtree something or others in Atlanta. So, here it is again - 2323 Defoor Hills Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. Most folks who get lost make the mistake of turning off of Collier Rd. onto Defoor Ave, which is about 1/10 of a mile before Defoor Hills Rd.
We're very pleased with our spiffy new tasting room, and the comments we hear from attendees clearly support that position. Equipped with a state of the art pouring system and 4-6 beers on tap, we can't think of a better way to wait out rush hour than to hang out with friends and enjoy samples of Atlanta's finest craft beers. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff leads an interesting and educational tour during which guests see where the magic happens and learn about the entire operation, from the brewing process all the way through packaging.
Live music is still featured on Wednesdays and Fridays, and thanks to Pete and everyone at
Shuteye Records, we know it's always going to be top notch artists. Click here for the live music lineup.
